Impact of Re-prioritization on EiE

A new analysis by the GEC of the 2025 HNRP re-prioritization exercise reveals a stark reality for Education in Emergencies. Based on figures from 21 Education Clusters:

  • the global funding requirements for Education were reduced by 33% and target numbers by 43%
  • the range of funding and target number reductions reaches up to 90%
  • compared to the "Big Five" Clusters (food security, protection, WASH, health and nutrition), the reductions in education are more pronounced

In a letter to Tom Fletcher, on behalf of the Strategic Advisory Group and Cluster Lead Agencies of the Global Education Cluster, we continue to reaffirm our collective commitment to education for crisis-affected children - not as a luxury that can be deferred, but a lifesaving necessity.
