Global Education Cluster Strategy 2026-2029

In 2025, unprecedented humanitarian funding cuts shook the global system, exposing structural weaknesses and triggering urgent calls for a “Humanitarian Reset”. With resources shrinking and compounding crises accelerating, the humanitarian sector is being urged to prioritize efficiency, localization, and integrated approaches that deliver measurable impact.

The new 2026–2029 GEC strategy lays out a roadmap for adaptation. The GEC strategy presents a call to action that reaffirms education as a life-saving priority, while also highlighting its life-changing and life-sustaining dimensions. It drives collective efforts that protect learning as a foundation for recovery, stability, and hope. At this critical juncture, the GEC strategy must balance ambition with agility and pragmatism and exercise careful prioritization so that scarce resources are used efficiently to deliver meaningful results where they are needed most.
